Please enjoy our first feature, Mrs. Jackie DeLappi's Baby Shower, in true Vegas fashion it'll have you craving bubbles and cake, all before noon.
Jackie DeLappi is a name I love to say. DeLappi, DeLappi, DeLappi...doesn't it just roll off the tongue like the molten, stringy cheese of a Chicago style pie? Yes, she's a Chicago native and loves baseball. And gorgeous. And skinnier than I am even at 8 months pregnant. And even more beautiful on the inside and true & witty & fun & chill. You know, the future-lifelong friend you love to love. An Alumna of UNLV and a Vegas local for the past 17 years, Jackie's about to welcome her Vegas Native Son, in utero Bryce, who is already making quite a splash in our VEGASMAMAS™ community.
On a bright, brisk & breezy Saturday afternoon we made our way to the home of hostess-with-the-caftan-mostest Kate Smart in Seven Hills, Henderson. Along with her stellar fellow-hostesses Alida Roberts, Natasha Thater, Gloria Reimen, Mary Kathleen Keeler & Alese Morrow, these women threw a celebration fit for those elusive Vegas record books.
The driveway was long and the agate & marbled balloons bobbed off the mailbox as our valet extraordinaire Preston Smart worked his parking magic (Derby hat included...what a hubby!), flowing&glowing Kate greeted us with a freshly-poured Baby Bump (chilled shot of tequila w fresh-squeezed Cutie mandarin & lime juice accented by a Serrano chili slice...¡delicioso!), baby-boy inspired plushy table decor, ice buckets full of Perrier-Jouët ("PJ" as the Vegas cocktail models call it), the sweetest baby-themed cookies from Wonderland Bakery and a taco stand out back. Yes, a taco stand. Scroll down to that pic of the jewel-accented sofa...the first glimpse of said culinary epicness and that moment of realization just had to be photographed.
Our hostess-es thought of everything; a photograph frame to sign for Baby Bryce, group-unifying-laugh-inducing shower games, blue&white cupcake deliciousness, the endless faucet of "PJ" (so nice I must mention it twice), their daughters as much-needed-gift-opener-helpers, the request for all guests to write their info on self addressed stamped envelopes (totally brilliant, all Jackie has to do is put pen-to-paper then pop those thank you cards in snail mail), transcendent outdoor lanai time...all for Jackie & Baby Bryce and all so wonderfully curated. The experience was bespoke, touching & simply enchanting.

I made some new friends. I probably drank a little too much. I channeled my inner Spring Goth. I ate three tacos but could have had ten. It was an afternoon that lasted into the early evening. Jackie's very blessed to enjoy such a bodacious bash but, then again, she (and all expectant mamas) deserve(s) to be cherished, adored, admired and celebrated. I think everyone present at the shower would tell you they're lucky to have Jackie and her family in their lives. And now adored baby Bryce.
